Domain Rating and Search Visibility: 897 Project Domains
100-plus estimated monthly organic visits appeared on 37.6% of VCL domains with DR 10 or higher, versus 11.0% below DR 10. An association, not a causal result.
In VCL’s September snapshot, 37.6% of measured domains with Ahrefs Domain Rating of at least 10 had an estimate of 100 or more monthly organic Google visits. Among domains with DR below 10, the share was 11.0%.
The two measures are associated in this sample. That does not establish that increasing a domain’s DR would produce the same difference in traffic.
Comparing like denominators
Both measurements were available for 897 of 904 eligible unique custom domains. The comparison counts each domain once and separates it using two descriptive cut points: DR 10 and 100 estimated monthly organic visits.

The denominators come from the report’s four cells. There were 483 lower-DR domains below the traffic cut point and 60 at or above it: 543 in total. The higher-DR group contained 221 below the cut point and 133 at or above it: 354 in total.
Dividing each positive count by its own group size makes the comparison interpretable. Comparing 60 and 133 alone would ignore that the two DR groups differ in size.
An association with several possible explanations
This is not a causal estimate or an adjusted analysis. Domain age, content volume, promotion and existing popularity could accompany both backlink strength and search visibility; this table does not isolate their effects. Nor does it show which measure changed first.
The recorded DR and traffic results may come from different dates. Traffic values are estimates, not measured visits, and neither cut point is a validated product-success threshold. The lower-DR group still contains domains at or above the traffic cut point, while most higher-DR domains remain below it.
The useful result is therefore not “reach DR 10 and traffic follows.” It is that higher-DR domains in this selected VCL sample more often also had larger estimated search footprints. Testing why would require a different study design.
