Where Vibe-Coded Projects Launch: Domains and Platforms
74.7% of VCL project URLs used custom domains. The rest reveal a mix of web hosts, game platforms and app stores—not a hosting-provider market share.
Most project links in VCL’s September snapshot used a custom domain: 937 of 1,254 submitted URLs, or 74.7%. The remaining 317 pointed to recognized shared hosts or platforms.
That second group is more varied than “apps without their own domain.” It includes hosted websites, games on itch.io, and listings in app stores.

The custom-domain count is a count of project URLs. Deduplicating their domains gives 904 eligible unique custom domains; multiple projects can point to the same domain.

The address does not reveal the whole infrastructure
These are submitted destinations, not hosting-provider market share. A custom domain can still run on Vercel or Netlify, and its infrastructure would not appear in this platform-URL breakdown. The report’s separate technology-detection figure examines that different question.
App-store listings also need to stay distinct from running web applications. An Apple or Google platform link describes where a product is presented or distributed, not a website the builder hosts there. Removing those links would hide a real part of the submitted-project mix; counting them as ordinary web hosts would misdescribe it.
The finding is about launch destinations in a selected VCL sample. It does not establish that buying a custom domain improves a product, or that a shared address makes one less complete.
