Do AI-Built Productivity Apps Get Found on Google?
61.4% of 311 measured productivity-project domains had fewer than ten estimated monthly organic Google visits. Compare four VCL project categories.
Productivity is the most common recorded category on VCL. Its search footprint is a separate question: 191 of 311 measured productivity-project domains, or 61.4%, had fewer than ten estimated monthly organic Google visits in dataset v9.
Small estimated search footprints also appear across Developer Tools, Business and Marketing. In each of the four published category comparisons, more than half of measured domains were in the below-ten band.

Search visibility across four categories
Each percentage uses the measured domains in its own row.
| Project category | Measured domains | Under 10 | 10 to below 100 | 100 or more |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Productivity | 311 | 61.4% | 16.4% | 22.2% |
| Developer Tools | 163 | 63.2% | 16.0% | 20.9% |
| Business | 151 | 64.2% | 15.9% | 19.9% |
| Marketing | 130 | 56.9% | 22.3% | 20.8% |
All traffic bands refer to estimated monthly organic Google visits. Rounding can make a row total differ slightly from 100%.
There are 467 distinct measured domains across these selected categories, out of 508 eligible domains: 91.9% coverage. The rows overlap because a domain can appear in more than one category; their sample sizes must not be summed. Missing estimates are excluded rather than counted as zero.
Discovery is a separate part of building
The result gives founders a concrete reason to think about how people will find a product. Publishing an app does not by itself establish a search audience. It also gives writers a category-specific benchmark instead of one average for every kind of product.
It does not show that these apps have no users or revenue. The estimates exclude direct visits, social referrals, paid traffic and other channels. They cover whole custom domains, which may contain more than the listed application. Shared platform URLs are outside this comparison.
These are stored DataForSEO estimates recorded before the cutoff, not fresh visitor measurements taken on October 1. They are a cross-sectional snapshot of selected VCL listings. Product age, promotion, content and submission patterns may differ between categories; the table does not isolate those effects or establish commercial success.
