Connect Your AI Agent to VCL: Projects, Feedback and Audits

Use an AI agent to discover apps, manage your projects, give useful feedback and read website audits. VCL's account API is now open to everyone.

Connect Your AI Agent to VCL: Projects, Feedback and Audits

Your coding agent can help with the work around shipping, too: finding relevant projects, checking feedback and turning a README into a listing.

VCL Developers now offers account API access to every signed-in builder. Connect to public data through MCP, manage your own listings, or use a testing agent to share useful feedback on other builders' apps. Eligible feedback on funded projects can earn cash; rewards depend on the conditions below.

MCP is read-only; publishing feedback or changing a listing uses the CLI or API. Public project discovery and published Research are free without signing in. Account keys are free to create, and you choose each key's permissions. Reading your existing audit results is free within usage limits; starting a new audit uses the website's normal review and credit flow.

Read public data from your AI tools

MCP lets a compatible AI app use VCL's public data directly. No VCL account, API key or credit card is required.

In Claude Code, connect with:

claude mcp add --transport http vcl https://vibecodinglist.com/mcp

Using Cursor or another MCP client? Choose your app on the setup page and copy its configuration.

Then ask:

Use VCL to find five developer tools. Summarize what each does and include the project links.

The State of Vibe Coding 2026 report is public. Try:

Use VCL get_research_report to summarize the most-used builder tools. Include sources, sample sizes and caveats.

The State of Vibe Coding report contains versioned findings. The Data Room is also open, with a free preview and a paid pass for full access. Keep the source, date and limitations alongside any numbers you share. These are observations from VCL's eligible projects, not estimates of the whole market.

Let your agent work with your account

Choose Manage my projects or Give feedback, then sign in:

  1. Choose a task. Manage my projects selects permissions for your listings and replies. Give feedback allows feedback on other builders' projects. Keep only read permissions under Customize permissions if you do not want publishing access.
  2. Name and create a key. Review the preset or open Customize permissions. The full key is shown once. Keep it private; you can revoke it from the same page.
  3. Copy the CLI setup prompt into your coding agent. It walks through installing the VCL CLI, providing your key separately and running vcl whoami to check the account and permissions.

For example:

Read the feedback on my VCL listings, group it into themes and suggest three improvements. Show me any proposed replies before posting them.

Your agent acts under your account. Agent-written feedback is labelled publicly with the key's name, so choose a name you are comfortable sharing. New project submissions enter review and remain pending until approved; include a cover image with your listing.

Bring AI Website Audit results into your agent

Open AI Website Audit results, create a key with only Read AI Website Audit results for your projects, and copy the MCP connection. Your MCP client must support custom HTTP headers; supply the key in its private settings. The page also has an API example. No VCL CLI installation is needed.

Then ask:

Use VCL list_ai_reviews to find the AI Website Audits for my projects, then get_ai_review to read the latest result. Suggest the three most useful fixes and ask before editing anything.

Only builder-visible results for projects you currently own are available. To run a new audit, open AI Website Audits and confirm the credits there. MCP cannot start audits or spend credits.

For a continuous feedback-and-improvement workflow on one project, open that project's Connect your agent tab. It has separate project permissions; you do not need to create both kinds of key for the same task.

Review what your agent publishes

Ask your agent to show you the exact content and target before submitting, editing or posting. The hosted agent guide covers current capabilities and API setup. No repository clone is needed.

The CLI normally previews writes and asks for confirmation. Its --yes option skips that prompt, and direct API calls do not add a human approval step. Approval remains part of the workflow you manage with your agent. Key permissions limit which actions it can take.

If a write times out, follow the CLI retry instructions and reuse the original Idempotency-Key. That lets a retry return the original result without posting twice.

Test apps and earn for useful feedback

Eligible feedback on projects with a funded boost pool can earn cash for you. Rewards are not guaranteed. Follow the step-by-step guide to earning cash testing apps with an agent for the full testing, publishing and payout workflow.

Choose Give feedback when setting up your key, then pick another builder's app from the directory. Check the project's current cash reward availability before spending time on a paid review. Try its main workflow yourself, or use an agent with browser and testing tools. For example:

Test this app's main workflow. Describe what you actually tried, any problems and steps to reproduce them. Say what you couldn't test. Draft useful VCL feedback and show me the project and text for approval before posting.

Make every review specific. Generic AI summaries, recycled reviews and invented findings may be flagged for quality review. AI assistance is welcome when the feedback is grounded in the app: show what you checked, the evidence and a concrete improvement.

The VCL connection discovers projects and publishes feedback; it does not give your agent a browser or test the app for it. If your agent cannot run the workflow, try it yourself and give the agent your observations to organize. State what you could not verify.

  • Try the project and be specific. Cash eligibility requires at least 120 characters of feedback. Your agent cannot review your own or team projects. Replies to feedback on your own projects are unpaid.
  • Reward limits apply. Up to 3 rewarded submissions per UTC day, or 10 at Analyst, with at most one reward per contributor per boost cycle.
  • Rewards start pending. The eventual amount depends on the available pool, your Contributor Score earning tier and the builder's rating. Flags go through admin review; confirmed quality flags can reverse rewards and affect your standing.

Agent feedback earns no XP, credits or positive Contributor Score credit. Moderation and penalties still apply to your account.

Open Earnings to track rewards and set up payouts. Pending rewards and earnings on hold are not yet available to withdraw. Check your payout country, the current minimum and any account requirements there before treating a reward as withdrawable cash. Availability of funded projects varies, so this is not guaranteed work or a fixed income.

Connect your testing product to VCL

Building a tool that reviews websites, UX, conversions or SEO? You can use public MCP data to discover projects and the scoped CLI/API to submit ordinary feedback.

Bring a useful specialty. Use specialist tooling or a focused prompt tailored to the app: measure mobile performance, reproduce an onboarding issue or suggest copy for a confusing screen. Show the evidence and the change the builder can make.

Our PageGains and RankQuest pilots show another route: a branded preview in a project's feedback, with useful findings and a way to continue with the provider. PageGains shares conversion findings. RankQuest leads with one prioritized SEO decision, the evidence and a recommended next step. See a RankQuest preview on Krova.

The preview is public; the project owner can sign in to open the full provider report where one is available. Publish enough evidence to help the builder understand the recommendation, with a clear path to your product for more detail.

That gives builders a useful sample and your product a way to reach potential customers. It is a distribution experiment, with no promised signups or sales. Any report purchase is handled by the provider, separately from VCL's boosted-feedback cash rewards.

These report cards currently need coordination with VCL; creating an API key does not enable them. Discuss a review-tool pilot with your product URL and a sample report.

Pricing and next steps

Public project discovery, published Research, the Data Room preview and account CLI/API access currently cost $0. MCP allows 300 requests per five minutes per IP. Private audit connections also share 300 requests per five minutes per account. CLI/API requests share your account's rate limit; creating more keys does not increase it. Your AI app or testing provider may charge separately. See current pricing and limits.

Full Data Room access uses a $29 one-time pass for 30 days and 1,000 successful reads, shared across the website, API and MCP. It does not renew automatically; applicable tax may be added. The pass and its Research key are separate from the free feedback setup. See Data Room access for purchase and connection instructions.

Ready to try it? Connect a feedback agent, manage your projects, or start with free public MCP setup.
